China Trade Mission:
In December 2005, Lieutenant Governor Bruce Johnson traveled on a business mission to China and reported strengthened ties with Chinese companies and government entities. Johnson’s delegation participated in business meetings and networking events designed to maximize Ohio companies’ opportunities for success in China. During the trip, the group met with Ministry of Commerce, the agency charged with promoting out-bound investment by Chinese companies and the National Certification and Accreditation Commission (NCAC), the primary agency responsible for certification of products being imported into China, including the China Compulsory Certification (CCC) mark.

Lt. Governor Johnson visited Grismer Tire in Columbus to announce the Universal Business ID, which makes it easier for companies to interact with state government.

August 10, 2005

With the help of chef June McCarthy, Lt. Governor Bruce Johnson shows fairgoers how to whip up a batch of white chili. The demonstration was part of the Heartland Cuisine cooking program at the Ohio State. During the demonstration, Johnson encouraged those in attendance to be "Ohio Proud" by using Ohio grown and raised farm products. For the Lt. Governor's white chili recipe, click here.

 

 

      
April 26, 2005

Lt. Governor Johnson participated in the June 30, 2005 signing of House Bill 66, the biennial budget bill. The bill contained the most comprehensive tax reform in more than 40 years, providing a 21% income tax cut, and the elimination of several onerous business taxes, including the corporate franchise tax and the tangible personal property tax on machinery and equipment, inventory and furniture and fixtures. The tax reform is designed to spur economic development and demonstrate that "Ohio Means Business."
